<<@apolokaggwa7619 says : Mr. Todwong, if indeed "Buganda is poor by ignorance," according to this Uganda Public Broadcasting Service headline. How come Buganda accounts for 80% of the entire GDP of Uganda or approximately USD45 billion, according to the 2024 estimate? Are you insinuating that the rest of the country are more prosperous than Buganda or do you have a hidden agenda? Buganda did not become what it is today by listening to hearsay. Today, for example, Uganda as a whole makes over USD1 billion in raw coffee exports, 50% of which can be attributed to the Robusta coffee produced by Buganda farmers. That is equivalent to approximately 3,000,000 60kg (120lb) bags worth USD500 million every single year from just Buganda alone! Yet Buganda has a population of approximately 25% of the whole country! How much does the remaining 75% of the population contribute to the economy, you may ask? It is obviously negligible. Your NRM party in power for 38 years, committing atrocities against the opposition, and having failed to maintain democratic values, robust institutions, human rights, the rule of law and so on, by denying that Uganda is alright without them, has run out of time. You are now grasping at anything you can find in order to gain credibility, but it is too little and too late. The Baganda farmers you will be talking to in the most prosperous Kyaddondo county do not need your indulgence. They are doing much better than where you come from, which you will never admit. Please don't make a fool out of yourself. Uttering empty rhetoric will never get your party anywhere.>>
