Kellogg-Briand Pact (1928): Also known as the Pact of Paris, it renounces war as an instrument of national policy. Geneva Conventions (1949) and Additional Protocols: These conventions establish rules for the conduct of hostilities and the protection of civilians during armed conflict. Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998): Defines "aggression" as one of the crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the ICC, which includes acts of war against the territorial integrity of another state. Of course, since Ukraine decided to cut ties with the Russian Federation the agreement between the USSR and Ukraine is void and this is most probably the reason why Russia seized the territory and the rest most probably for protection until the reason settles. Agreement and Decision: The transfer of Crimea in 1954 was initiated and implemented through a decision by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. This decision was made as part of a broader administrative reorganization within the Soviet Union. Reasons for Transfer: The decision to transfer Crimea was motivated by several factors: Historical and Cultural Considerations: Crimea had historical ties to Ukraine, including a significant Ukrainian population.
