Their Goal was to cause the Military to take over Government like it happened consequently across the Sahel. Eurooe and NATO should pay particular attention to Africa. A proposed Gas Pipeline from Nigeria to Morocco and then to Europe cannot be achieved now with the Russian influenced Military Juntas controlling those governments that the Pipeline was supposed to run through. Resources such as Gold and Uranium are now trapped in those Countries controlled by Russia. This is a great disservice to Democracy that Europe allowed these events while snoozing. There MUST BE a Counteroffensive in Africa, and Ukraine is best suited for this.
