My country has, on paper, some of the best legal protections for journalists but our news is full of propaganda and outright lies. Most of the news outlets are mostly or fully reliant on these American/government corporations for their income through advertisement. It is actually a brilliant system where they can just serve fewer ads or less valuable ads on content they don't like and give more for the ones that they do. As I started watching CGTN and other international media outlets like Al Jazeera I got news I would consider very important that is just not covered by our press. I don't know how this could be achieved but peace will come when this western media bubble break. TikTok helps but kids can't vote and the young adults are not in large enough numbers yet. We need to target the working class and the older generations and get them onboard. I think they are open for it as the big shift to right wing political parties shows. We just have to make sure those right wing parties don't get run by the same nutjobs as the current ones.
