In regards to cost of living today, if the power companies were confident that their existing investments had life and the government wasn't going to regulate them out of existence they would not have to get a return in 10 years, they can stretch their investment out over 30 years which would lower the prices, also the power companies would invest back into that generators to make them last longer, make them more efficient. Labors policy simply will not provide this and worst of all Labor wont even come to the table to work best in the interest of and for all Australians. When it comes to such critical resources that need to be provided for to obtain a flourishing economy a mandate as politicians like to call it is not rational but destructive. So on the face of it Peter Duttons statement on nuclear energy and how it can be implemented makes more sense than Labors current policy. Some renewables are desirable as back up for base load power production and even technology that needs more work such as hydrogen based power production could be viable in the future. Biomass used as a fuel for power production is more environmentally friendly than gas.
