Nuclear power stations produce high-level radioactive waste. It is dangerous for hundreds of thousands of years — and so far, the world has failed to deliver a safe, permanent storage method. Is this a problem Australia really wants to take on? Old nuclear plants never die. They are mothballed, and sit there like giant radioactive lumps that are giant money pits. To keep them safe cost billions and nothing is recyclable. They are dangerous for generations, and I hope that nuclear never comes to Australia. If it ever does, long after I am dead, my descendants will not thank me for their never ending nuclear fission nightmare. Nuclear fission energy is an expensive fantasy, easily dismissed. Labor has nothing to worry about.

Albo is very wise to be against Nuclear Spent nuclear fuel, occasionally called used nuclear fuel, is nuclear fuel that has been irradiated in a nuclear reactor (usually at a nuclear power plant). It is no longer useful in sustaining a nuclear reaction in an ordinary thermal reactor and, depending on its point along the nuclear fuel cycle, it will have different isotopic constituents than when it started. Spent fuel pool at a nuclear power plant Nuclear fuel rods become progressively more radioactive (and less thermally useful) due to neutron activation as they are fissioned, or "burnt", in the reactor. A fresh rod of low enriched uranium pellets (which can be safely handled with gloved hands) will become a highly lethal gamma emitter after 1–2 years of core irradiation, unsafe to approach unless under many feet of water shielding. This makes their invariable accumulation and safe temporary storage in spent fuel pools a prime source of high level radioactive waste and a major ongoing issue for future permanent disposal. Spent nuclear fuel stays a radiation hazard for extended periods of time with half-lifes as high as 24,000 years. For example 10 years after removal from a reactor, the surface dose rate for a typical spent fuel assembly still exceeds 10,000 rem/hour—far greater than the fatal whole-body dose for humans of about 500 rem received all at once.

Yesterday, I heard one of Labor's front-bench Muppets mention Germany's shutting down of their reactors as an example of the undesirability of nuclear power. Unfortunately the Muppet is two years out of date. Germany 's government is now ruing the day they made their fateful & misguided decision as much of their industry prepares to leave the country due to the hideous rise in energy prices!

Every time I come to Sky to read comments about nuclear, I'm amazed at how many people are all in for the proposal. Yet they have no idea how much it will cost, how long to build, what percentage of energy will it produce towards our energy needs, or how much each kilowatt will cost. Not to mention they will be paid for by tax payers only. The fact the the Liberals party can't release these figures, even before the next election, should be sending alarm bells off everywhere. All this is doing is destroying investors confidence into renewable energy.

And that’s what these lefties fear most is power and it comes in a form of Australians uniting together to get rid of these people that are selling our country to private companies and giving away our natural resources like propane! There fucken criminals and yes Australia sees through your bullshit and I drop out of school in year 9 so it means I’m more intelligent then Albo and his hole divide Australia and steal from them in any way
