World's first 18MW wind turbine deigned, fabricated, installed and commissioned by Chinese. Normally this would just a normal step forwards to decarbonize. However wind power situation in the west is dire. UK in 2023 could not attract a single bidder for its offshore projects! In the US the successfully bidders like Ørsted, Equinor, BP and Avangrid, have canceled contracts or sought to renegotiate them. They prefer paying the penalties instead of taking up the project developments. US offshore projects that had been canceled by the end of 2023 represent more than half of the capacity in the project pipeline. They blame the high interest rates making the projects no longer profitable.
