It is long past time for Modi to show more support for Ukraine. Russia does not have many markets left. It isn’t going to stop selling oil to India on favorable terms, and Russian military equipment is inferior as is its armed forces. Putin is evil, and Modi needs to align his country more with the Western-aligned powers (including notably Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and indeed Ukraine) who share “Western” pro-democratic values. It may be that Modi is strategically waiting out the November 2024 presidential election to see what’s best for India.
