The parties of Tupperware, like Mary Kay, is a pyramid scheme. The ones at the very top are the ones that made the most money.

I love Tupperware, but they were elite and arrogant and you had to search for a salesperson. They didn’t make their products easily accessible. You can’t do that and expect your success to last. Such a shame.

Not unexpected. A decline in spending ability among the middle class such as cheaper, though not better, is affordable.

I remember my mom - horribly behind the times with a beehive hairdo in 1972 - hosting Tupperware parties in our house where the centerpiece was a huge bowl of punch with sliced limes floating on top. My mom would run me out of the house, threatening physical harm if I came back in while all the neihbors cars were still in the driveway. So I was encouraged to wander far and wide with my orange schwinn with banana seat, pennant, and stuttering bycicle card in its spokes. And before long all the kids in the neihborhood would gather and cause trouble when these Tupperware parties were in full swing. And if the parties graduated to spiked punch, we pretty much had all day to do as we pleased. With today's helicopter parents who refuse to let their kids even smell fresh air, let alone go outside and explore, we have lost a fundamental rite of passage for kids of a certain age. Now neihborhood streets are mostly empty, while the poor kids are trapped inside spending hours online. There is a profound sadness to all this. So I guess what I'm saying is: thank you Tupperware. You gave me some of the most adventurous days of my childhood. I will look back on you with nostalgic fondness.

Actually, the party isn't over for the Tupperware company filing under Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the process. It's about restructuring the company in the process. It's Chapter 13, which puts a company out of business in the process. Knowledge Is Power! 📚 📖

Don't know why they didn't expand into higher end designer glass containers as a companion prestige line. They need some creative designers to make their products stand out and above the cheap knockoffs. They really needed to make some futuristic looking stuff for the 21st century.
