A few hours before that, a bolt of lightening hit the base of a telephone pole behind our restaurant, shattering it, during a bright sunny morning, out of the blue. When the top of the pole fell, the attached electric cables wrenched the giant fuse boxes off the wall inside the restaurant. We felt the electric shock in the car and could tell how horrifying a direct strike would be. If we were out of the car, we'd have all been goners. That was when I was finally able to convince my husband to pull off and park under an overpass to wait out some of the worst of the storm.>>
