They don't want Ukraine to be Democratic - even if they 'think' they can choose who governs, it will only be 'Russian' controlled puppets they can vote for. Everyone in the 'West' or 'Nato' or Europe, are Democratic, independent Sovereign States and RESPECT each others Borders - Germany won't invade it's neighbours again, nor will any other NATO, West Group because they RESPECT Borders and Right to Rule themselves as Sovereign Democratic States. Its that 'group' aspect that is making it more difficult for those Allies to help as much as sending troops in - they maybe on Ukrainian soil but they can't exactly attack the 'military' sites of those countries without starting WW3. Even if they are wearing their countries uniform, not in NATO's, they are still NATO troops expected to fight if 'attacked' and certainly 'ready' to defend itself from Attack. Because Most of Europe and the US are Allies, Russia can't 'Attack' and/or Grow their 'Empire' by attacking a 'smaller' independent Sovereign State without The West/NATO coming to its Defence and all that 'Firepower' that would devastate their own territory in that defence.
