This was money borrowed by the Australian Government - for students - to have a loan to pay for university tuition fees. If you wipe a debt - wouldn't that be wonderful. You could simply wipe a car loan or a house loan. Never works. He's simply shifting that debt back to the taxpayer. And that is bad debt for a government. In that you a re paying a debt on a debt. Government debt on infrastructure is a different story. That generates income from taxes - where business builds up around - the infrastructure - governments build. And if a government shifts that debt to all taxpayers - someone has to pay it off. Still does not excuse him - for his - demanding free upgrades on his Qantas flights.
