Senator Sanders' greatest virtues are also his biggest political weaknesses in the political climate of America. Rather than pretend that the only two positions are "Biden good, Trump bad" and "Biden bad, Trump good", he provides a realistically nuanced description of the political problems America is facing. People are afraid of that.

Sanders, I wish you would replace Biden instead of Harris. Harris for democrat canadate increased Trump's win. I can't stand Trump. My mom wants to move out of Texas because of Abbott. When Trump becomes president aguin Abbott will get worse because he's like Trump. Things in Texas will get worse. I love living in Texas, but I hate Trump and Abbott. With Trump, we will be forced to move out of Texas because Abbott becomes more evil when Trump is back in the presidentcy, and it's too expensive to live in New York or California. My mom wants to live in New York and it's too expensive to live there and I don't want to live there because it gets too cold there in the winter and I don't like the cold. I live with my parents, and I will be forced to move out of Texas with my parents. I didn't wanted Trump for president because I want to stay in Texas and not be forced to move out of Texas. We lived in San Antonio, Texas, since 2006.

Bernie Sanders' economic policies, though well-intentioned, represent a fundamental challenge to the principles of free-market capitalism that have lifted billions out of poverty and driven unprecedented global prosperity. His vision of extensive government controlβguaranteeing jobs, healthcare, housing, and moreβignores historical evidence that such policies often lead to inefficiency, economic stagnation, and reduced innovation. Examples like the Soviet Union and Venezuela demonstrate the devastating consequences of overreliance on state intervention: chronic shortages, inflation, and widespread poverty. Sandersβ proposals, funded by massive tax increases, risk stifling entrepreneurship and investment, undermining the very economic engine that creates jobs and wealth. Capitalism, through competition and innovation, has proven far more effective at reducing poverty and raising living standards. Overburdening the system with government overreach risks unsustainable debt, bureaucratic inefficiency, and the erosion of individual freedoms. History shows that the free market, not central planning, is the most reliable path to prosperity and progress.

The thing is if the nominees get their money from donations then you can't expect anything good that helps ordinary people because the donations come from corporations. So Bernie Sanders was never gonna be a president (or nominee) because he is against corporations. Both party serve corporations throught donations and not the people. They're basically the same in terms of economic policies with small differences. The only solution would be a state-sponsored nominee system forbidding corporate donations. In this case nominees with ordinary folks in their mind would come forward.

<<@cate1657

Of course Senator Sanders' statements about the working class are exactly right; but, that said, it seems that nobody wants to reveal the actual reason why working class Americans are suffering: our whole governmental system is purposefully designed to keep the power of where and how money is distributed in this nation--you guessed it: the design (especially since the 1970s) is such that those with wealth, especially the corporate class, actively prohibit any legislation coming from Congress that would in any way jeopardize their control and power over where the money goes and how business is conducted. The working class will continue to suffer, continue to need federal spending toward lack-luster "programs" supposedly designed to keep people in need able to survive. What Senator Sanders doesn't talk about is the remedy to poverty, homelessness, underpaid workers, housing needs, medical shortages for people without big dollars: passing big, meaningful legislation that protects workers' interests instead of corporate protections, as allowed now. With a return to American workers being paid a good wage for their labors, coupled with a mighty tax bill to keep American corporations paying taxes on profits at the 90%-level, this country, in just a few years' time, could see a substantial shift away from misery, poverty, sub-standard housing, medical & food "deserts", and life could well return to the 1950s/1960s-type levels of economic growth that helps to sustain a decent standard of living. But that will take elections of candidates that are not financed by huge corporate bucks which they throw around to "buy" their own special brand of candidate. When regular people begin to step forward with good ideas for the growth of the middle class, fighting the power of money in electoral politics with appeals to "The People" to vote as though their lives depended on it--then we'll see some progress toward fairness. In the meantime, a large swath of American society will continue to suffer--particularly what's left of the working class.

The problem with the Democratic party and Republican party is that they are NOT democratic in anyway. Bernie had the popular vote of the people and the damn Dems chose Biden. Biden accomplished diddly and now people are surprised that Trump has made a comeback. People feel like they have to choose Rep or Dem because the Independent party never has a chance, and that's a crying shame and should be changed. We should have the leaders we want, not the one's we get stuck with.

I wish more politicians were like Bernie. I agree with everything he said. I would add that Democrats need to make it more clear that they are not in favor of extreme far-left policies (I mean are they even really left, because no sane person left or right wants this?) such as allowing children to undergo transition surgeries in schools without parental consent (also this IS NOT HAPPENING). Donald Trump ran a campaign on fear-mongering and lies, and unfortunately many people believed his lies. The Democrats did not do enough to stand up to his lies. I will say as an independent who votes Democrat, I voted AGAINST DJT, not FOR Harris. I almost sat this election out honestly, but 4 more years of Trump and the realization that he will likely be even worse (more prepared) this time is what made me vote. Bernie is right, the Democrats do not do enough and they are not even fighting for anything substantial. We are so tired of the status quo and feeling like we are voting for the "lesser of 2 evils." I want to vote for someone I'm actually excited about. I've spoken with many friends who feel the exact same way, I don't understand how the Democrats are so out of touch. Be like Bernie and AOC and actually talk to voters and actually have a backbone to fight for substantial policy changes.
