I have family here in US in all different situations, of course some were born here no problems, some waiting in line for years for a work permit and living a life in fear, and some who are here illegally with no chances at all of any path to documents, oh one in jail for DUIs too. Of all of these people but specially the ones with no path for documents, they alnowledge the decision they have made. So they have a plan B if they are deported why because they knew they are here against the law and they don't seat for years and wait for a miracle. They fully understand there could be consequences, like family separation, etc, having to leave for emergency and come back, raising kids here who dont feel from here but they also dont feel from their original coutry. So they are always ready, when is time to go is time to go. In no way they start putting in their heads that this government has to give them documents just because they are here a while. Of course if there was a path why not take it. Just like all of us, let's say for example this economy becomes Venezuela lije, and we as US citizens go to Canada with a "great economy" illegally cross their border, start making money, It would be at our own risk right? I wouldn't seat there for years and let agendas use me and victimize me so that I feel I have rigths like every other Canadian. Please don't let yourself be used by agendas. Just own the consequences of your choices and decisions. No one put a gun on your head to be here in this situation., even if a cartel in mexico did this is not the only choice in life. You choose no one did for you. Own it.
