Treasurer Jim Chalmers has addressed the criticism of his recent essay on the merits of values-based capitalism published in The Monthly.
'I'm not saying investor returns should be compromised. I'm saying here's a way to maximise them,' Mr Chalmers said during a media conference on Sunday.
'I'm not calling for the return of some clapped-out ideological model from the 1950s.
'My essay is a throw forward, not a throwback.'
