For some reason nobody is doing anything to build what was even described by Dr. Warner von Braun so many years ago, an ion- drive orbital tug. Chemicals rockets are necessary for launch into earth orbit, but once the payload gets into orbit it takes far too much chemical fuel to be easily maneuvers into higher or Trans luner trajectories. Ion propulsion is already used for smaller interplanetary satellites and could be upscaled into a truly new and affordable piece of heavy duty equipment for the developing future of mankind's growing presence in interplanetary habitation. One step at a time, and that could be a really big difference for the future of international progress and cooperation.
