Hydrogen as 'fuel of the future' would 'empower' households and businesses
Liberal MP Tim Wilson says hydrogen becoming the 'fuel of the future' would enable households and businesses to play a part in getting Australia to net zero. "The potential of hydrogen as the carbon neutral fuel of the future is one which will empower Australians and households and businesses to be part of getting Australia to net zero by 2050,' Mr Wilson said during a press conference on Tuesday. 'What we have is the opportunity to continue to lead the world in cutting our emissions while making sure that businesses are made competitive and are part of that solution.' He said hydrogen plays a 'critical role' as it can help to reduce emissions where there is nearly 20 per cent directly related to transportable energy, resulting from passenger vehicles and freight vehicles. 'If we want to go to net zero by 2050, Australian households and businesses need to be part of the solution and hydrogen fills that critical gap," he said.
