The Australian's Sophie Elsworth says she was 'just stunned' when she read that the ABC's Virginia Trioli had apologised on behalf of all journalists to Olympian Kyle Chalmers.
'I was just shocked that she would actually put pen to paper and say that she walked up to Kyle Chalmers to take the moral compass of the Australian media and apologise to him,' she said.
'This piece was incredibly insulting to sports journalists from Australia that covered this story.
'I think this highlights how out of touch Virginia Trioli is.'
