Tim Smith hails 'economically prudent' decision to scrap suburban rail loop
Victorian Liberal MP Tim Smith says the state 'can't afford' the suburban rail loop and his party made an 'economically prudent' promise to scrap the proposal if elected. He said Victoria has more debt than New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia combined. 'This suburban rail loop was literally dreamt up on the back of a beer coaster before the last election,' he told Sky News host Chris Smith. 'There was no business case, no cost-benefit analysis.'
