I was on the toxic waste board at Camp Lejeune about 1998. We asked anyone with info to come forward. From old memory...about 177 toxic sites found that were narrowed to about 20 or so dangerous ones. Most wells were put on monitors and closed if poisoned. As they spread, more wells were shut down. Some were sucked out to attempt treatment at $$$$$$$. As a low level committee member I felt the base was sincerely trying to find the sites and close them. What I learned mostly was that once the aquifer is polluted it cannot be cleaned...that is why i worry about fracking!! Sadly the Onslow county New River was ruined and all fished killed by the Oceanviews hog waste spill about 1995. Almost no fine paid since the rains were an "act by God." Ironically Onslow County motto was "the county of perfect water."

I lived with Marine husband 1970-1971 at Knox Trailer Park Camp LeJeune. My son was born with birth defect on base and I had 3 operations from ovarian cancer 1970-1974. Since it was many years ago I cannot find the diagnosis because my doctors are deceased and the hospital is closed. I also had my thyroid removed from thyroid cancer, hypertension, diabetes, migraines, aneurysms, infertility and stroke all from toxic water at Camp LeJeune. It is a tragedy what they covered up all these years.

The contamination goes back to 1953 CNN, my parents were there when dad came home from Korea. My brother was born there in 54. I lost both of my parents to horrible cancers, dad-multiple myeloma/2001 & mom-colorectal cancer/Parkinsons/2022. Affects 7 generations last I read at ATSDR.
