So many comments below completely misunderstand this case. It’s not that hard, folks. It’s about the message not the people. If you are in an artistic business you cannot discriminate against people, but you can make distinctions about certain messages in your art. A Jewish website designer should not be required by law to make a custom artistic website that says “Jesus is the Messiah and the Jews Killed Him”. As long as he’s willing to do business with Christians in other circumstances, he’s not discriminating against people, he’s just declining to promote a message that offends his deeply held beliefs. The same is true with an environmentalist website designer refusing to make a custom site promoting the oil business. Or a pro-choice web designer making a custom site for a Catholic church that wants messages promoting the pro-life position. There are a multitude of examples. Under our First Amendment, some people will be offended by messages that are promoted and some will be offended by messages when they are not promoted. Welcome to America.

@alexpiper1115 Says:
it's basically about compelled speech.
@ZacharyJPearse Says:
That woman is a psychopath and a monster
@doricetimko5403 Says:
In retrospect this woman by filing a fraudulent case got an awful lot of free publicity before starting her business. This case needs to be revisited
@pauldudley8837 Says:
We'll all be looking forward to seeing her unique wedding websites.
@hjanssen6805 Says:
The lady is eating to match of her one art and is a complete lunatic. So there is nothing to sell, she has all eaten it already.
@hjanssen6805 Says:
Really?
@valentino4411 Says:
LGBTQ+ arent the only kind of people condemned in the Bible. What about cheaters, liars, thieves? Will she refuse them wedding website design service too?
@Normalhumman Says:
CNN falling right into trap for a millionth time. This was a free national ad for this person and I am sure she will see a huge temporary surge in her business and after that no one really gives a damn about any of these
@errarehumanumest3810 Says:
I believe, this web designing woman created this lawsuit just as a marketing tool, to make herself known. Look how she describers herself as an artist. This is nothing else than a marketing stunt (look, she's now on CNN), at the cost of a minority.
@idahofallsmagazine3691 Says:
Sober. Pragmatic. Courteous. Respectful. Now imagine how this conversation would play out if it was on Fox News with Jessie Waters asking the questions.
@ByronAgain Says:
"protecting LGBT artists..." Hogwash. Sanctimonious hogwash. The more this story comes to light, the more 'fishy' the case looks. Current and emerging reporting shows this case as highly questionable and potentially void or vacated based on the allegedly fraudulent party cited, a man who had no knowledge of this case and isn't gay or in a gay marriage. What the plaintiff, her lawyer and whichever group has bankrolled this effort have failed to understand is how the same legislation can and will blow up in their faces as it allows anyone to discriminate based on personal belief - meaning, we should be seeing outraged Christians who've been refused service by a business based on the business owner's belief that Christianity runs contrary to their personal beliefs. Don't believe me? Wait for it.
@robertdove807 Says:
she has wasted the Supreme Courts' time on a non-issue - should be charged for lying as no one was hurt nor would be !
@sunsen3177 Says:
Lol y’all are so ridiculous in this comment section. If gay web designer refused to do the same regarding a Christian, y’all would applaud them. The hypocrisy. The more you try to force someone to go against their beliefs, the more resentment you build.

15 minutes of fame deary, time to STFU.
@steve-on3234 Says:
Macaroni is clearly not speech. The macaroni is prepared in the kitchen independent of a message and then offered for sale.
@steve-on3234 Says:
A fair interview by CNN. Wow. Rare
@momme5301 Says:
6 mins in and CNN has not called out the lies. However, we got a good idea on the beautiful, one of a kind, unique, traditional, blended art website business that designer hasn't created yet.

This looks to me like people are using their religious beliefs (and also 1st amendment rights) to justify their bad behavior. The behavior being: discriminating against people they don't like. I don't know the Colorado law, but from what I understand is that you do have the right to decline services, just not to specifically discriminate against certain groups. What she's saying is: But my religion tells me I have to discriminate against those people! The argument that the case isn't just protecting her, but also the LGBT+ artist or graphic designer who in her mind now also can't be forced to create art that opposes their beliefs sounds nice. But the translation is that she invites people to discriminate just like she does or wants to. Totally oblivious that the LGBT+ artist probably doesn't want to do that. LGBT+ people grow up in a world where heterosexual couples and marriages are the majority. Their own parents probably are in a heterosexual relationship. The difference between her and the LGBT+ community is that the LGBT+ community doesn't hate heterosexuals like she hates them.

@craigmason5148 Says:
What pathetic hateful people. Ridiculous rationale
@ckg1665 Says:
Am I missing something here? Doesn’t she have the right as a private business to reject new business without giving a reason? You don’t have to take work from every client. This is nothing but a self serving woman looking publicity. How many graphic designers are there in America? By listening to her you would think she is the only one in America who can do this.
@regisnyder Says:
This interview could have actually discussed the actual Colorado law code that says a private business/service cannot discriminate against those that are of different race or gender or ethnicity or sexuality.
@davidbiddle3257 Says:
How come she just can’t say no thank you? Guess she’s such a victim, she can’t make her mouth say no to anyone? Poor ugly, pitiful, person-or just plain total c***?
@jesonsan7312 Says:
When you see law that you do not like, come up with a hypothetical case against it, and SCOTUS will surely take it up. Any non-partisan judge would dismiss this case due to no real party is injured. Another proof that our SCOTUS is.
@sepiv.5864 Says:
She keeps saying custom… shut up girl 😂😂😂 seems like she’s reading her lines from a script.
@Karina_Borz Says:
She’s on this high moral ground when she is a sinner herself she has half a sleeve tattoo and is obese (gluttony) so how can she judge anyone else ?
@Karina_Borz Says:
Create, creating, custom, art, unique does she know how to say anything else ??? Also does she know her tattoos and obesity (gluttony) are sins in her faith of Christianity???
@michelleduncan906 Says:
Her real problem is nobody wanted her websites gay or straight. I thought God was love? This sure sounds like hate and exclusion to me.
@weselder6251 Says:
Sad where there’s a world where things are made complicated by dumb people🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
@bolaadetiba8220 Says:
She keeps saying she has had LGBTQ plus in the past, but what kind of service did she provided for them that is different from her bone of contention now?!
@Nsuage Says:
How is she playing the victim when literally nothing was done to her
@Coryclemmings Says:
You're just the fucking vehicle for the msg. It's not yours; it's somebody else's. You're not creating something for sale that is your own: it's completely impossible--YOU CAN'T OWN SOMETHING YOU'RE FUCKING SELLING!!! Why can't she get this?
@Clemburke1111 Says:
Oink Oink
@verdancyhime Says:
No gay bride would hire this woman to make "custom art." Especially not now that we can just use AI
@K_A86 Says:
This is beyond ridiculous.
@MadAudi Says:
Stewart, the man they say was the gay man in their case, says he’s been married to a woman for years. He was contacted by press because his name and address was used in the case. He says he’s never contacted this woman and is shocked that his name and contact information was used. I just read this on Apple News. It’s a Washington Post article. This woman… may be a right wing liar that’s gotten away with a huge scheme. Could be mistaken ID on the part of the press. However… if she lied… she should go to prison. Pronto. Enough of the lying to manipulate others for your agenda/beliefs. Her zeal for hate… is based on fear and intolerance.
@Onecooltop75 Says:
Now that everyone in the country knows who she is, I think her business will suffer even if she leaves the state of Colorado for a state that is more tolerant of discrimination
@Onecooltop75 Says:
So what’s the over-under that her business is going to suffer because of this?
@TimeLord-n7r Says:
I hope her business fails hate never prospers
@michaelwoodhead5895 Says:
Lol at the idea that her “custom wedding websites” are “artistic expression” and “speech”…😂🙄
@8eeable Says:
She lied. NO ONE asked her to do so. Yelp 1 star.
