Queensland's health minister maintains she did not need to know about a COVID emergency at a leading mental health facility.
The lockdown at Ramsay Mental Health Clinic in New Farm was ordered after two staff members were identified as COVID carriers.
A letter leaked to Sky News has confirmed all 41 patients have been prevented from leaving the building, socialising and receiving visits from loved ones.
Although the situation has been brewing since the first staff member tested positive on December 21, the lockdown directive was issued on Christmas Eve and has been kept secret.
"I don't think it's accurate to say it's been kept under wraps at all," Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said.
"This is probably an evolving situation and the public health unit on the ground will be the ones who respond and put those measures in place, not the health minister."
