After Chile was engulfed by nationwide protests in 2019, the population felt it was the time to bury its conservative constitution enacted during the right-wing Pinochet dictatorship (1973-1990). However, a lot has changed in Chile's social and political dynamics in the last three years, with a wave of crime and violence boosting the popularity of conservative groups. And what started off as a very progressive idea of drafting a new magna carta has evolved into yet another crisis, paving the way for the rise of far-right groups that now control Chile's 'strike 2' attempt to write a new constitution.
