I worry about our country. One of the problems with modern interactive media is that there are supercomputers running in the background processing everyone's inputs, then feeding back information that support an individuals beliefs rather than facts. The result is that everyone that's interacting believe's that they are 'right'. Journalism has died, and the result is a level of division in America in ways that have no logical/factual basis. That is the real danger.
Our media on both sides have digressed into something that resembles a high-school fist fight, with both sides using their huge media bandwidth to neutralize the other side, most times without any ground truth or logic, with the aim of producing negative emotional responses from the viewers with personal attacks, and mutual claims of 'the end of Democracy'. Wow, just wow!
I was raised in the 60's. In those days at family gathering there were often political discussions, but both sides had incredibly great candidates with platforms that they could articulate and explain how they would execute the plan. Intelligent people listened to both sides, made their choices, participated in the elections, then no matter what, EVERYONE would get behind the winning candidate going forward. There was never enough difference between the platforms to think that either party in place would be a disaster of any kind for the Country.
I am optimistic that Americans have the overall intelligence to see this for what it is, realize we are all in the same boat (which is sinking at this point), and push the conversation to find the commonalities that are best for our country, recognize that the media is driven by ratings and is unlikely to change. It's up to us as Citizen's and Patriots to fix this mess. As Ghani once said: "Be the change you seek in the World".
