I'm not idealistic enough to think that any political party is a shining example of honor and ethics. However, the GOP used to at least strive to keep up the appearance of it and, in doing so would've never argued to keep people like Santos, MTG, Gaetz, Boebert, Trump, etc. They would have found a way to have kept them in line or forced them out... but now??? Now they have found that 30-35% of their base loves this kind of thing... just like they used to love Jerry Springer or wrestling. So why fall and pander to this group instead of the majority? Because they can more manipulate this smaller base into a populist fervor. This has worked in the past in the US and other countries... but they are gambling our country on it. If you follow the historical pattern... it never ends well for those involved or the people of the country. Let's hope the party can self-correct and get back to it's roots.
