This was Iran's response to Israel's attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus. Iran gave the US and Israel 72hrs advance notice of their intent. The drones used were basically pawns in a chess game ie expendable and launched towards the desert. The aim was to test and exhaust the iron dome and to establish the locations of the radar and launch facilities. Iran hit the Nevatim Airbase which is the worlds most protected facility. It launched 7 cruise missiles and 5 hit. The aim was not to destroy infrastructure but to warn Israel and the US that they can penetrate their defense systems and hit whatever they chose to. The Nevatim Airbase was used to launch the aircraft for the strike on Iran's Consulate. Iran, under international law, was justified in its actions.
