I heard a story about as witness who was preparing to testify against her former boss, and her boss was paying for her lawyer, and the boss's lawyer told her "after the prosecution questions you, we need to talk with you about how to answer our cross-examination", and the witness said "but there's no break in the proceedings, how do we do that?", and the boss's lawyer said "come up with something, get physically sick or ask for a bathroom break", and the witness said "what if I cry and get the judge to let me leave the courtroom" and the boss's lawyer said "oh yeah, that's a great idea" and everything went as planned. Just a story I heard.
