I don''t think that Russia sells stuff for a loss. Sure they sell it way too cheap to make profits but they ensure Chinas political and economic "support" this way. Without China the Putin regime would no longer exist.

The war in Ukraine has pushed Europe into developing alternative energy sources much quicker than it otherwise would have done. Once developed these sources become permanent. Even in future times of peace Europe will not be using Russian gas. Putin has shot himself in the foot with his lunatic ambitions.

In a few years Gazprom's Power of Siberia II will be ready. Plentiful supply of cheap energy against a guaranteed price for industrial super power China. West Europe cannot compete with energy costs now already 87% more expensive than China's and will fall behind irrevocably. By the way Europe still buys a lot of gas from Russia through China and oil through India.

Russia is facing brutal realities, Corruption, Sanctions etc: because of the failures and actions of putin, their (Unhinged Dictator) it's known as "Karma" and you can't hide from it.... This is the payback to putin for all the evil he is doing to Ukraine. When are the Russian people going to wake up and remove putin from being in control of their country.....God Bless Ukraine from the UK

Russia is dumb. They needed Europe more than Europe needed them. It was always the way. Europe paid full market price, on time, reliably, for decades. Best ever rich customers. They had loads of money and an insatiable appetite. Once that cash cow has walked away Russia tries to get China to take more gas and invest a fortune in a new very long pipeline, when they have a policy to not be to reliant on one supplier. China lords it over Russia knowing Europe walked, doesn't care too much about the gas so demands it for next to nothing. Russia can either supply it for next to nothing giving away their crown jewels on the cheap or cap all the gas wells and let it sit in the ground for decades losing them literally trillions of dollars over the years to come.
@ptonpc Says:
It would be a real shame if those pipelines going to China and other countries caught fire....
