Prime Minister Scott Morrison has warned the Queensland flooding event is 'likely to move south' to New South Wales.
'The weather event that we're seeing here in Queensland is likely to move south, and we're already seeing that in northern New South Wales,' Mr Morrison said.
'And elements of this weather event are expected to return to parts of southern New South Wales as the week progresses.
'So, this is a serious natural weather event, and this is a serious natural flooding event that we're seeing impact everywhere from Bundaberg to the border � This is a very serious situation.'
Mr Morrison said the Commonwealth would be providing a Disaster Recovery Allowance for affected local government areas, on top of a $1000 payment which has been activated for two local government areas, with more LGAs set to be included in coming days.
Morrison you would know what thus town has been through as well as every other town walk around hiding in meeting secret meeting place with your tongue flapping . Did during the bush fires . These poor ppl are now homeless and will not be able to find suitable accommodation even when insurance companies will pay. Bcse there is simply no rental property available! I got flooded out in Melbourne in 2011 and it took me 2 months to find rental and that was very fortunate situation getting that rental even though the insurance company was paying, and it was a horrible 11 months in that horrible rental. These poor ppl will have no opportunity to rent anything! Bcse there is nothing out there. It’s appalling what this country has become! Let alone tying to get builders. It will literally take years for these poor ppl to get back into a house of their own.
