Recent studies have concluded that renewables such as wind and solar are many times more cost-efficient and that a complete change-over to renewables is technically possible and economically cost-efficient. Furthermore, recyclable wind turbine blades are already being installed and solar panels can also be recycled. The IEA has found that nuclear power plants are much too expensive compared with renewables and therefore uneconomical. Small modular reactors are a pipedream. Companies in the US have given up on them because they are not economically feasible. Nuclear energy accounted for a share of 15.1% of global energy generation in 1985. By the year 2021, that share had dropped to 9.8%. Renewables are being successfully rolled out in many advanced and apparently more mature, smarter and more educated countries than Australia. Apart from massive and incalculable delays and cost overruns, Australia has a growing problem of water scarcity, and water stress is growing with climate change. France has had to limit energy output from its nuclear reactors due to high river temperatures in a 2023 heatwave. All of this information is freely available on the Internet. Only if you are too lazy or unable to read do you have an excuse for not knowing any of this. The sole purpose of Dutton proposing seven nuclear power plants in Australia that will take much too long to build is for Australia to keep burning coal and gas for as long as possible, which will do absolutely nothing to lower people’s electricity prices any time soon. It will add massive amounts of additional carbon to the atmosphere and accelerate the warming of the climate. And because Australia will fail to meet its emissions reductions targets, our exports will be slugged with massive carbon border adjustment levies and lead to job losses and the gradual demise of our economy.

should ask people, do you support nuclear, and, would be ok having a plant in your electorate... then comes the, well, i like nuclear, but, I don't know about the effects of having one near me... now, the effects could be minute, but for the individual you're asking to have an informed opinion of sorts about whether they like nuclear or not, now has the same sort of information to say whether they're ok having one near them... which they're no longer sure about... so they support it, just not near them, because they don't know about it's effects... could compare it to a thousand other things people support, so long as it doesn't really effect them... this is what these polls show, how do you feel about something that you don't really know about... why are you agreeing, or strongly agreeing, or disagreeing for that matter, would prefer the qualitative break down compared the the quantitative, wouldn't take long to read, there weren't that many people polled...
