My husband is a 59 yr old quadriplegic who has been paralyzed for 40 yrs, broke his leg in 2 places, is riddled with osteoarthritis from years of pushing a wheelchair, suffered burns from boiling water being spilled on him, suffered broken ribs after his wheelchair fell off a deck…the list goes on - he is one of the patients who truly needs pain medicine yet has difficulty getting his medicine because of greedy pharma & illicit drug dealers. 😒 We need justice for the disabled Americans!
@jsd354 Says:
The Opioid suit will go on so you families expecting a bonus payout for the loss or addiction of your loved one will still get your payday, but it’s the Sackler family that created and put out this addictive drug that needs to be dealt with. Hold off on greed to receive a settlement check and pursue Justice. It’s the right thing to do.
@janitor9166 Says:
As a chronic pain sufferer, I have been taking medically prescribed hydrocodone for almost 30 years. I need opioids in order to function. Don't blame medicine providers for the sins of the addicts.

If the Sackler family doesn't file for Bankruptcy protection the DOJ needs to take them to court and charge them. For the Federal charges against them.
@flashoflight8160 Says:
Correct decision. You can’t get immunity unless you file bankruptcy
@tf2engineer Says:
Hmm maybe there is a presidential candidate who would go after the Sacklers... but I didn't see him on the debate stage!

Please worship the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, THE LORD GOD and try not to worry too much about the differences between the different religions and denominations, try to think about the similarities and the things they may have in common more than the differences. Daily prayer is a fundamental part that many people do not practice although it is encouraged "CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, LORD GOD,Β  I beg you to never force me to worship any false god or object and I ask you for forgiveness for my sins and immorality. Thank you for everything. Amen." Please pray this now, pray the words as you read them if you cannot look and remember them πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Sure that's fine and all but the drug company wanted to sell drugs. I want to know where the accountability is for the American Pain Society, the Federation of State Medical Boards, the VA (for TAKE 5, Pain the 5th Vital Sign), the AMA and others who took drug company money to push prescribing to the point of even threatening physician's credentials. This all started after those organizations (who are funded in part by tax breaks/tax dollars) seized on Portenoy's "study" of 38 patients in 1986 (for which he receive drug company funding and later apologized) and pushed this garbage when they knew it was bad -- lining their own pockets along the way.
@Caocao8888 Says:
The Sackler family (worth $10.8 billion) seek to be shielded from future lawsuits stemming from the more than 560,00 opioid deaths in the United States. Do you think the Sacklers can buy our judges and politicians? I think they can.
@gr8gmaCaky Says:
The Sacklers ruined many lives, marriages and they want immunity!! They knew and did it anyway. How disgusting!
@dennisfullerton4827 Says:
It’s about time big pharma gets delt a blow congress will not change the law because lobbyist are paying them millions of dollars to keep these companies shielded from lawsuits
@chuckdawit Says:
It's sad to see so many people on this video's comment section that believe the MFG should be responsible for others actions, when in fact the MFG didn't sell or prescribe these drugs to the public. Furthermore, using the argument they (MFG) didn't fully disclose the addictiveness of their drugs is erroneous, Doctors, who are the truly responsible party, fully understand and are educated on the addictive nature of opioids. But, we live in a society now where we don't take responsibility for our actions and blame others. Usually for financial gain! I feel sorry for the Sacklers, who wanted to settle so they didn't have to spend the next 10+ years in court.
@jdemaio Says:
That means the current administration needs to be held accountable for the open borders and influx of drugs.
@LEDZEP769 Says:
They are no different than drug king pins like Escobar and ElChapo. They should be stripped of all their assets and jailed for the millions of lives lost and ruined and knowingly lying and pushing a highly addictive drug. Also many doctors and clinics are just as guilty.

Why do people hate this iteration of the Supreme Court so much. This seems like an excellent ruling to me. Am I wrong?

I live in Arkansas where thousands of white MAGA rednecks are sick or have died of Opioids. They have health insurance on the ACA. (Obama Care) Yet they vote for Trump who wants to get rid of the ACA. Soo funny.
@Bay0Wulf Says:
I get that people are upset because their loved ones had no control over themselves and destroyed their lives or killed THEMSELVES. I get that maybe Big Pharma all too willingly took advantage of a willing customer base. However, as one of MILLIONS of people who live with Chronic Pain the hue and cry and outrage of the β€œPeople” have made the ONLY effective treatment (opioids) almost impossible to get legally. This is a case of People who have a legitimate NEED being hurt by People who are angry that THEIR β€œLoved One” COULDN’T CONTROL THEIR SELVES.
@dougsholly9323 Says:
Basically, by blocking the settlement now, people who are part of the settlement won't get their money. That's a bad thing. But, the settlement also prevents anyone in the future from suing and getting money, which is also a bad thing. I feel like ultimately, this is the right thing.
@Soy_Bomb Says:
They also held up the 2nd amendment restrictions on people with records of domestic violence the other day but that wasn't covered.

@reneewauchula Says:
So they made pain medicine, which most hospitals still use. And they're being sued for over producing it for people to abuse? I don't understand. Or has it just somehow ended up in other people's hands? At some point where do you stop that. Where does it go back to the family are the person that died taking some faults. If you're going to blame people who are just making medicine for use at hospitals or if you've had surgery, why isn't the family of the person dying somehow at fault also? And I've had people in my family sick and OD on it. But I never blamed the people they got it from. Our family did the best we could to get them off of it, and some of them have succeeded to recover. But ultimately it was up to them. I'm just wondering if they actually broke the law somehow the company.

@johnene Says:
Part of the Fentynal crisis is because of doctors not filling pain meds regardless of your condition. People went to heroin then Fentynal. Issue happening now is that pharmacy's won't till opioid scripts with no regard to the patients health care with thier doctor. It's hard to watch a chronic pain person go through this.
