No surprise. That is what Filipinos do to their oceans. My co-worker returned from the Philippines and was disgusted. He saw farmer's market vendors washing their produce in the nearby stream that looks filthy with trash. People just throw their trash on the streets. He saw a family digging through the trash bins looking for half eaten thrown away food. Some people don't use toilet paper and wipe themselves with their hand in the public restrooms.
It is a shame that the Belt and Road initiative would help the Philippines. Yet had Marcos Junior accepted the B&RI... the money given for that would have gone into the pockets of corrupt Filipino officials rather than help rebuild the infrastructure. It is good that the Filipinos are showing their true colors up front so China don't waste money on them.
