Most European countries are now slowly moving away from Natural Gas as a fuel anyway. Whether you believe in climate change or not, the burning of natural gas is actually more harmful than refined oil products to the environment, so countries are reducing its use in an attempt to meet their carbon zero targets. Gas fired boilers are no longer being installed in new build homes in several European countries and many more are stopping installing them in the next few years. Any existing gas boilers will be replaced with different technologies when they are due to be replaced. Within about 30 years there will be no domestic gas boilers left in Europe and that will only leave the demand from industry which may take a while longer to make the transition. Gas fired power stations are on the decline in Europe, so with only the demand from industry left, countries like Norway and a few others will easily supply all of those requirements. Russia is sitting on the largest reserve of Natural Gas in the world and in only a few decades they won't be able to give it away !

Meanwhile, down here in Corpus Christi, Texas, we're expanding the port with hopes of keeping up with the demand. I never thought to try to count the number of gas carriers that sail in and out every day. It would be a slow day when only four are in view at the same time.

The Chinese buy all the oil and gas that Europe used to buy cheaply from Russia, now China buys it. That is why Europe is slowly entering a crisis. First the Germans came to kiss the feet of the Chinese, and today the Italians left. They are begging for mercy, but Europe will never be the same without cheap Russian energy. The Kremlin wants to triple LNG exports in the next decade. If they're still making payments on the bill for reparations in 10 years, sanctions will still be in effect.
Western companies won't return until they are compensated for seized assets. LNG infrastructure is heavily dependent on proprietary western components and systems.
