@glurppuffloid9796 Says:
The Solution is simple, respect the treaty properly, recognize that the current New Zealand govt' ONLY represents the Crown and NOT the Maori, we need the Federal Govt to be bifurcated, with 2 separate yet equal houses, the Maori House and the Crown House and the Federal Govt. should represent both factions, and be authorized by BOTH houses.
@frankcoates4609 Says:
Right wing racist slime hard at work against the Maori mirroring Dutton and the Liberals betrayal of the first Australians. Cvnts.

One vote, one people when it suits, many posts bagging Maori, ,other ethnic groups and gender rights comes across loud and clear here in Aotearoa, NZ.
@renatozanoli8722 Says:
Agreed that colonialism wasn’t always treating fairly. However Maori weren’t actually indigenous to NZ and therefore are not any different from the rest of the people who migrated to this island. One country, one people. The only way forward.

The Maori are not even indigenous to New Zealand. They only arrived a couple of hundred years before the Europeans. Most people in New Zealand are transplants.

@scipioafricanus4328 Says:
As the Maori elite (the wealth doesn’t trickle down to working class Maori) have been getting preferential rights, the possibly of that being downgraded to equal rights seems like oppression to them.
@bradprouting9280 Says:
It's not, it's actually making us all one. Maori are 20% of the population but have more rights
@Nathan-yy2xs Says:
New Zealand should abolish the Maori rights. There is nothing worse than having one nation with 2 separate entries running the show. Australia didn't do it. Be equal.
@League_life Says:
Maori are indigenous of Aotearoa We don't need no second generation European to tell us who we are.
@DawnMarshall-zm3zz Says:
Unlike in Australia where you do have an indigenous people, the Māori are not indigenous in New Zealand. There are some radical Māoris in New Zealand who have taken upon themselves to re-write the Treaty which their forefathers signed with the crown in return for protection from their own kind to suit their ongoing demands. In return they got equal opportunity and rights as all New Zealanders do and the protection they sought. It needs to be known that not all Māori are radicals. The majority of them are just New Zealanders like the rest of us and they do not support the radicals at all. These radicals are hellbent on dividing New Zealand.

Tried a similar thing here in Australia, the Voice was voted down just recently
@J.Smith-rc6wh Says:
"same rights and duties" clause two Treaty of Waitangi , could not be more simple, The treaty has been not part of NZ law for LONGER than it has been part of our law in NZ, Most NZers want the treaty removed from law once again, it is only our public institutions that want it kept for their own (funding) reasons
@honahwikeepa2115 Says:
It's bullshit. MSM NZ bullshit. Winston Peters and Shane Jones, NZ's most experienced politicians who are both Maori are shredding the the leftist narrative. Climate Change is Climate lunacy now. The Maori Pati is a WEF UN party. No more woke education and gender confusion. Maori abort children at historical levels. They got that shit to deal with before they ramble on about who owns what.
@fergie8716 Says:
At least they only have one flag
@Jamison1888 Says:
Yes cause most maori want their own laws and rights. Its like the rats and the cheese. Te pati maori for years have just wasted government time being rascist
@markturner2971 Says:
The bill is not creating division. Maori activists have created this. Maori are not indigenous. Also, Maori ceded sovereignty and went on to sell 92% of New Zealand,by 1865. This is a coup, backed by mainstream media.
@Wilds-pm2sb Says:
That land belongs to Māori respect are culture respect are land
@npryde09 Says:
The bill is inclusive, those who view it as divisive are the ones who don’t want to lose their gravy train.
@jamescrydeman540 Says:
If you wish democracy there has to be equality under the law, it needs to be absolute, anything less and what you wish is a perversion.
@MaoriWithAttitude Says:
It's like having a mortgage contract with your bank, then your neighbor goes to the bank and moans about you having more rights to your property than he does, that he wants in on your contract else it's apartheid.
@JamesTimms-k2g Says:
there has always been division. come oe
@gregwaghorn8496 Says:
There were Celtic people living in NZ, before Maori arrived. It's been proven
@gregwaghorn8496 Says:
Maori have most of the rights in PRISON
@tamimrktz6966 Says:
If you give more rights to some citizens, society will fall apart.
@AtCheruti Says:
A law that gives the same rights to everyone is something that unites. It requires a strange sort of perversion to think is is divisive.
@stevep9041 Says:
I’m so glad I left NZ. I saw the Maoris doing this 35 years ago.
@JerryMander2024 Says:
Take it to a referendum. Let "the people" decide.
@LordEriolTolkien Says:
Kiwi version of The Voice. Say No, Kiwis
@michaelholt7994 Says:
This is ridiculous, Maori were not the first people to inhabit New Zealand, its was western peoples,as evinced by structures built 1200 years before they arrived,this is utter garbage,
@sandypike2431 Says:
Sky news need to report accurately. The Treaty is a one page document with three articles. There are NO principles in the treaty itself. The principles are derived from interpretation of the 'intent' behind each of the articles. Because this involved 'interpretation' of the intent of those long dead it is a very unsound basis for constitutional prrinciples of government over the peoples of the country 'indigenous' or not. Seymore is asking for agreement to a workable set of principles decided by all the stakeholders and that these be discussed and accepted by both maori and non maori instead of the loose, somewhat arbitary principles, undemocratically made law or common practice at various stages in response to a handful of influential people with power and vested interests. Whether maori ceded sovereignty to the crown or not is a distraction from the very real issue - the arguement about treaty 'principles' and their relevance to contitutional governance.
