The UNIFIL Base 131 was conducting visual surveillance on Israeli troops and passing it to Hezbollah, and this is why their surveillance towers and equipment were targeted by the IDF.
They also harbored Hezbollah positions right next to their perimeter, willingly acting as their human shields in hope that IDF wouldn't dare to attack them.
This is the most blatant violation of the UN charter and the Peacekeeper corps' mission scope.

The only mandate UNIFIL was supposed to fulfill in the southern Lebanon was to prevent Hezbollah's presence south of Litani river according to the UNSC resolution 1701. What they were doing all this time was exactly opposite -- aiding and abetting Hezbollah to invade and dominate this territory and use it as a terror base for their incessant attacks against Israeli towns across the border.
During the 1996 war there was the first recorded case when they allowed Hezbollah to fire rockets from the position right next to their base near Kafr Khana and use themselves as a human shield. Israel returned fire destroying both Hezbollah and the UNUFIL base, and the ensuing condemnation forced Israel to abort the operation and withdraw. Since then, UNIFIL has acted in covert collaboration with Hezbollah on multiple occasions, either out of fear and cowardice or out of antisemitic hate, and this latest incident is just another episode of their collaboration.
