That NATO narrative has been around a long time, probably since before any of you were born. It's just that no one in the west (or Ukraine for that matter) paid much attention as it was spreading at the grassroots level. Then when Russia invaded Ukraine, it was ready for mainstream distribution.

The west hasn't figured out how to regulate social media yet and places like Russia are taking advantage of that with propaganda. It has happened with every advancement in media, whether it was radio or television, until they figured out a way to regulate it, people to advantage of it for personal gain. I still am in a position to say that AI will play a major role in regulating social media, with a simple app running in the background you can instantly know whether what you are hearing is, mostly true, somewhat true, somewhat false, mostly false. I am used to read and hear rather pro-Russian opinions, but I was not aware of the extend to which it is infiltrated.
We are open societies with free speech. But every system (a society is a system) must protect itself. And we didn't see that free speech can be abused.
Time that politicians take measures. In the short term, they and media should better inform people about what's at stake in Ukraine and not themselves spread Russian propaganda.

I am in frequent contact with someone on the front line in Kherson. It is breaking my heart that they do not get enough food. Some days they don't eat. There are are many wonderful people raising big sums of money for vehicles and weapons but front line soldiers going on patrol every night, fighting the enemy day and night yet they do not get enough food.

A lot of great stuff here, but two things I miss: The right has legitimate complaints, it's just that Russia capitalizes on it and drives how we think about it. And I have a hunch that Russia is doing the same with the left, through academia and the press.
