On the eve of the anniversary of the 1964 military coup in Brazil, the country's Defense Minister posted a tweet glorifying the military regime (1964-1985). He followed this up with an official statement reiterating the same sentiment, also signed by the chiefs of the three branches of the Armed Forces. The publication, of course, failed to mention negative aspects of the regime, such as stagflation, political persecution and human rights violations. The episode has provoked anger on social media and among opposition leaders.
