Woke came out of Germany. It's been around since the last world war. It's based on Communist Manifesto and the Frankfurt School. I most certainly wondered how and why liberal progressive ideologues came off as super snobs. It's core ideology is guilt and jealousy driven via grooming and, 'education.'

It's too much to detail in a youtube comment but 'woke' is an amalgamation of Marxism and identity politics. Using the oppressed/oppressor lens of Marxism and overlaying that on groups (predominately racial minorities) they can automatically claim that these groups are 'oppressed' and use these groups as a vehicle for social change.
Edit to add: The 'social change' is often a facade for gaining political power and influence.
