In my opinion it also sends a message to the incoming Trump administration - Ukraine is fighting for its survival with or without US support, and without it the war will be far more messy and Ukraine will need to resort to more asymmetric actions

Zelensky is mishandling the situation very badly; instead of pursuing a peace deal, he's escalating the conflict and keep dragging the U.S. and NATO along to fund his madness..
Ukraine is indeed a victim of Russian aggression, but Zelensky must acknowledge reality and focus on achievable goals! ..They are losing bad daily!
The ability to contain a major power like Russia is incredible, but prolonging this senseless war plus escalation it offers no benefit to Ukraine.
