Rare earths critical to net zero technology
In the global race to achieve net zero emissions, and to quell China's geopolitical power, the hunt is on for critical minerals. One curiosity of this is that researchers are trying to work out if large deposits of these minerals were left behind as waste in abandoned mines decades ago. The Australian Critical Minerals Research Centre's Carl Spander told Sky News Australia the country has amazing assets in terms of the metal endowment in the ground and the potential to discover more.
