The United Kingdom has become the first jurisdiction in the world to approve a COVID vaccine targeting both the Omicron variant and original virus.
The Moderna developed jab has been found to meet the UK medicines regulator's safety, quality and efficacy standards.
It is expected to be rolled out from next month, ahead of the country's winter flu season.
Moderna says submissions for the vaccine have also been made by Canada, the EU and Australia.
