Sky News host Chris Kenny says in his view, Opposition leader Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party can't afford to oppose the Voice.
Mr Kenny's remarks come after a Newspoll revealed that a majority of Australians support an Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
The poll conducted for The Australian shows 56 per cent of those surveyed were in favour of changing the constitution while 37 per cent were against the proposal, which Mr Kenny said showed there's plenty of 'public goodwill'.
'The sobering thing for Peter Dutton and the Liberals is that if they were to oppose it, and it got up, they'd be instantly finished,' he said.
'This debate is a long way from over, for the Liberals and for the nation.'
