Perrottet calls to scrap PCR testing in favour of take-home rapid antigen tests
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has signalled his government's intent to move away from standard PCR testing towards take-home rapid antigen tests "as quickly as possible". "There's no doubt that these PCR testing requirements as the Health Minister calls them, the tourism tests, are putting substantial pressure on the system," Mr Perrottet told a media conference on Sunday. "I want to reduce inconvenience to the people of our state, if we can move from PCR testing to rapid antigen tests as quickly as possible, we should" Mr Perrottet said while he completely respects and appreciates other premiers taking a different view, the New South Wales government does not believe people who are unwell should be required to take a PCR test. "Ultimately they need to keep their people safe we just don't believe that the requirement of a PCR test for somebody who is not unwell is actually supportive of that view," he said.
