Queensland: No COVID patients in intensive care
Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard says there are no COVID-19 patients in intensive care or on a ventilator in the state - which means the vaccines are working. This comes as Queensland recorded 1,158 new COVID cases on Tuesday - bringing the state's current total amount of active cases to 4,779. "Yet, despite this very large number of cases, we are seeing very few cases that are sick in hospital," Dr Gerrard said during a media conference on Tuesday. "Only six patients in hospital currently receiving active treatment for significant COVID-19, and no patients in intensive care or on a ventilator. "This indicates that the vaccines are working."
