I think the novel The Life Of Pi explains religion perfectly. It's a story we choose to believe in to help us get through life. If the idea of heaven or eternity or salvation or the after life make it easier for you to deal with life and suffering and death, then by all means believe in that story, as long as it's not hurting anyone x

A word of caution/truth of the utmost importance: the most important thing is to put your full faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your personal savior.
