Doesn't the prosecutor have to name the exact charges before the trial starts and not come up with something else in the middle of the trial? I can only hope that the jury is very attentive here. Although if the jury consists only of dems, they are already burdened with prejudices.

It is illegal for anybody to intimidate a juror or witness in a criminal trial. This would normally involve indictment and trial which could take over a year to come before a judge so obviously does not solve an immediate and ongoing problem. In this case, it was laso thought that there was a possibility of jurors and witnesses being attacked by Trump supporters. The Judge's answer was to order Donald Trump to desist. With the option of contempt proceedings if he did not comply. Most consider this to be a very very practical and sensible decision to try and solve the problem. And to put it bluntly if Donald is now crazy enough keep failing to comply. there is a real risk of a short incarceration.
