I do not want America signing any security agreement with any more countries. "In 2021, the United States provided more than $50 billion in aid to over 150 countries and territories..." That jumped to $70.4 billion in 2022 without counting aid for Ukraine. Poland brags that it spend $26 billion on defense. We spend more than two times that on foreign aid.

Should have bargained in good faith with the Minsk agreement. All Russia asked was no NATO hardware in Ukraine, and a federal system granting cultural and language rights to the Russian minority in the east and south. That’s all. This is all Putin asked.

so, Why doesn't nato countries sign their own special agreement with Ukraine so that they can request that counties armed forces to come to Ukraine and protect Ukraine. You do not need Nato as such to use article 5

You don't want agreements. You want a treaty. The US has no concrete obligation to Ukraine, Israel, or Taiwan. Defense agreements are vague and up to the imagination of whoever the president is at a given time. You want a black and white mutual defense treaty. You don't need NATO for that. The US could give you a bilateral one which would be just as effective as NATO membership for defense. The US is NATO. Everybody knows that. The problem is the US won't give you that if you're still fighting

THE pro-ukraine position at this point is for the US (and/or UK and France) to offer ukriane a full mutual defense treaty if Ukraine will stop fighting. No Russians need to agree to that. It would pull the rug out from under them as well. The issue is Ukraine has to abide by it as well and not go after anything that has since been taken. It doesn't need to be NATO. That's too complicated. The US is the backbone of it and has bilateral mutual defense treaties with other countries already, like Korea and Japan.
