The President for Life Vladimir Putin will end up doing more damage to His Nation then the West has hoped to do. The Russian Morale image in the eyes of the World is about at the bottom of any list available. The Russian people, especially in Rural areas , will suffer the most with an economic downturn. Many of them for years are stranded in poor Villages without proper heating for their homes, some still using Out Houses. Billions spent killing Ukrainians that could have been used for Utility improvements, medical care and infrastructure in general.

The original Olympics in Ancient Greece were held even in times of war. The idea was that hostilities would stop for the duration of the games. Perhaps this should be a requirement of participation in the modern games.

Somebody should explain to the EU’s “high representative” that Putin has not been “convicted” by the International Criminal Court — not yet, at least — but merely indicted. Unlike Russian courts, the ICC hears evidence, and then gives the defendant an opportunity to defend himself, before deciding if he is guilty or innocent.
