There are female train drivers all over the world. It's not like driving a coal train in the past - everything is electronic with sensors and monitored. It's like being a pilot... It doesn't matter whether you're male or female when driving a train or flying a plane, just as it doesn't matter when driving a car. I'm not sure why this is being brought up. If women were not allowed to operate vehicles then it would be an issue. And at one time in history women weren't allowed to operate vehicles... Obviously laws changed and it's not an issue anymore. I'm tired of this argument because it doesn't make sense. Women can be bricklayers if they choose to, they can form their own clubs if they choose to, they can join the army if they choose to and that's the point. If they're not choosing to then that's their busines. No one is forcing men to be bricklayers. If men want to do traditional female jobs like nurses, baby sitters, seamstresses, or cake decorators, then no one is going to stop men either. This really is a non issue. This gentleman's club had internal problems with some of their members wanting their wives, girlfriends and mistresses to join, it's not an issue that affects the general public. They ought to have just closed the club and reopened under a new name and refused membership to the men causing a fuss.

The funny thing is that in the heritage railway scene in the UK, where volunteers operate and maintain vintage trains for the public to ride on, it's increasingly common to see young women driving steam engines. The whole movement realised some years ago that they needed new blood to replace the aging volunteer workforce and specifically targeted young people. It's rather nice to see but has happened without the screaming goblins of diversity hatred, more because people are fundamentally tolerant and accepting.
