Why don't the police circumvent the useless court system by working with Telco's? The only reason Patrick Stevenson was caught in Victoria was because his phone pinged off a cellphone tower. That was in the bush where cellphone towers are rare. In cities you could track a person's movement by pings from different towers because they're everywhere. If there's evidence of DV, the Telco of the perp and the victim should be notified and work together to notify the victim of tower pings from the perp's phone. Most couples have the same Telco so that's half the problem solved already. Most DV perps track their victim's phones through GPS, so why can't it go the other way? Why can't victims be given automatic GPS phone tracking of the perp's phone? Why not train cops to find the tracker on the victim's phone and disable it? Why rely on a tracking bracelet that lets you know when someone is around the corner when you could have suburb to suburb tracking in real time? The difference between life and death is literally time.
